In Etoliko, the Small Venice

In our new, travel article we stay for a few days in Etoliko, Etoloakarnania and learn its history, an important point of which is the trial of Karaiskakis. We eat, drink, take walks and marry our friends Petros and Elli in Agios Dimitrios at Katohi village. Also, we visit Messolonghi for food and drink, and we enjoy the warm hospitality of the couple’s relatives, who received us every day at their home in Etoliko.

In the second part of our article about Elatochori we hike to Pigi Keramida, enter the historic Agios Nikolaos church, drink coffee and eat sweets in Itamos cafeteria along with a very interesting discussion, enjoy rustic cuisine in Anoi and make a last stop in Panagia Agrotissa church, before our last destination, Veria.

24 hours in Naoussa, part a

In the first part of our new travel article, in which we spend 24 hours in the Heroic City of Naoussa, we walk in its streets and squares, we enjoy the beautiful nature in the Municipal Park and in the Park of Agios Nikolaos, while we are hosted in an apartment of Iliana’s House. For dinner we try the creative, local cuisine of Harama restaurant in Arkochori, Naoussa.

A trip from Old Saint Athanasios to Florina

Our new travel article based in Old Saint Athanasios is full of religion, art, archeology and gastronomy: we visit the Holy Monastery of Agios Markos in Proti, Florina, walk in the city of Florina, see churches, museums and art workshops, spending a lot of time in the Archaeological Museum, and finally try the haute cuisine of the award-winning restaurant Kontosoros in Xino Nero, Florina.

In the second part of our travel article based in Old Agios Athanasios we start the day with breakfast at the Metohi Inn, drink coffee at the tavern of the Naoumidis brothers in Agios Panteleimonas and visit their processing unit to learn everything about the innovative pepper products that they prepare, eat sweets at the Evora Café-Restaurant and take a walk to the nearby waterfalls of Panagitsa, and return to Agios Panteleimonas to end the day with a wonderful meal at the award-winning restaurant Naoumidis.

In the first part of our new travel article we stay in Nymfaio, in the excellent Argyro Guesthouse of Mr. Ioannis Iatridis and Mrs. Argyro Felesaki, we visit the award-winning ALPHA Estate in Amyntaio, where we learn the whole process of producing their qualitative wines, and at the end of a full day we end up at the famous Taverna Thomas in Sklithro, where we taste unique savory and sweet dishes of high gastronomy.

Visiting Kalamata… part b

The second part of our tribute to Kalamata begins with a swim in a slightly further sea, at Elea beach on the border of Messinia with Ilia. It continues with an evening walk in the historic center of Kalamata and a wonderful meal with creative dishes and cocktails. The next day starts with a delicious breakfast and a walk in the historic center of Kalamata in search of the famous Kalamata scarf. There we visit the church of Ypapanti, the Victoria Karelias Collection of Traditional Greek Costumes and the Military Museum of Kalamata. To end our trip beautifully and chilly, we make another trip to the impressive waterfalls of Polylimnio, before taking the road back to Athens.
