For a day in beautiful Vytina

In our new travel article we make a one-day trip to Vytina. There we drink warm beverages, eat delicious food, visit the Folklore Museum, take a walk on the Road of Love and the Forest of Vytina and end the day with a sweet and a drink. And a surprise … a handmade cake by Eliza for Mrs. Christina, George’s mom, for her birthday!

In the first part of our new travel article we stay in Elatochori, Pieria, at the Alseides Boutique Hotel and move locally: we learn about the local products of the area in the folk art shop in the Horostasi complex, we eat a wonderful dinner in the nearby restaurant Tzivaeri and go hiking in nature until we reach Sotiris Rema with the fantastic waterfall.

A trip from Old Saint Athanasios to Florina

Our new travel article based in Old Saint Athanasios is full of religion, art, archeology and gastronomy: we visit the Holy Monastery of Agios Markos in Proti, Florina, walk in the city of Florina, see churches, museums and art workshops, spending a lot of time in the Archaeological Museum, and finally try the haute cuisine of the award-winning restaurant Kontosoros in Xino Nero, Florina.

In the first part of our travel article while based in Old Agios Athanasios we stay in the picturesque Metohi Inn and drink coffee with a unique view at the Peri Anemon cafe, learning about the Edessa Gliding Club. George also goes hiking on Mount Kaimaktsalan, aiming to reach the Serbian Church, and at the end of the day, George and Eliza have lunch at the excellent Kalyva Tavern in Old Agios Athanasios.

In our sweet trip to Lake Plastiras we visited quaint villages, monasteries, waterfalls, went hiking and tried outdoor activities, learned the area’s history, discovered Cornelian cherries (Cornus mas fruit) and tried authentic liqueur and jam made with this great Greek superfood.
