In Veria, part b

A journey ends… in Veria! In our last article from our great travel tribute to Western and Central Macedonia we drink cocktails at the Elia complex, visit the Byzantine and Archaeological Museum of Veria, try the awesome cuisine of Vergiotiko, eat breakfast at Kriaras, learn about Dryas truffle products and make one last stop at Panagia Soumela before returning to our base in Athens.

In our new article we enjoy relaxation and wellness in the wonderful Pozar Thermal Baths, dine at the excellent tavern Karafaki in Aridaia, explore the Nymfes Hotel-Spa, visit the Monastery of Agios Hilarion Moglenon, where we have a very interesting discussion with a nun, and discover the impressive cave of Agios Ioannis in Thiriopetra, Almopia.

A trip from Old Saint Athanasios to Florina

Our new travel article based in Old Saint Athanasios is full of religion, art, archeology and gastronomy: we visit the Holy Monastery of Agios Markos in Proti, Florina, walk in the city of Florina, see churches, museums and art workshops, spending a lot of time in the Archaeological Museum, and finally try the haute cuisine of the award-winning restaurant Kontosoros in Xino Nero, Florina.

A day in Distomo and Arachova, full of history

Visiting Kalamata… part a

In the first part of our tribute to Kalamata we swim by its huge beach, visit the Kalamata Municipal Railway Park, talk to the people of the hotel that hosts us, eat a delicious breakfast in the hotel cafeteria and wonderful dishes at a fish tavern of Kalamata, walk in the city and organise an excursion to Ancient Messina and nearby monasteries. At the end we drink tsipouro in the monastery at an altitude of 860 m. with the pastor, on occasion of the feast of the Transfiguration of the Savior.

Α two-day trip to Aegina with art and pistachio

In our new travel article we go on a two-day trip to Aegina, hike and visit the Capralos Museum and Agios Nektarios, try pistachio products and enjoy the local cuisine, take a dip in the island’s sea, find shops with traditional products and chat with the people of the island.

In our sweet trip to Lake Plastiras we visited quaint villages, monasteries, waterfalls, went hiking and tried outdoor activities, learned the area’s history, discovered Cornelian cherries (Cornus mas fruit) and tried authentic liqueur and jam made with this great Greek superfood.
